Do not operate the Proctor Silex 59735 Immersion Hand Blender while distracted by bad days, screaming kids, or a tight schedule. Equipped with a powerful 120-watt motor, this immersion hand blender quickly purees mashed potatoes and cut the sh*t out of my left index and middle finger.
The unit’s durable stainless-steel blade won't rust and is capable of cutting down to the bone (luckily it didn't). Other useful features include an easy-to-grip ergonomic handle with push-button speed control - so easy to use that I forgot that it was on and grabbed it from the bottom when I was holding the blade portion of the blender under hot running water.
We spent 2 1/2 hours over at Longmont United Hospital getting my fingers cleaned up and stitched. The shot to numb them hurt worse (and hurt longer) than cutting them up in the first place. Everyone at the hospital was very nice and professional. I'm sure they see doofuses like me every day.
The fingers don't hurt too much - they're still fairly numb. In fact, all the Motrin I've had to take for the pain and swelling hurt my stomach and made me more miserable than the fingers did. Nothing like taking your kid to school, explaining your accident to everyone from the principal on down, and then running in the girls' room to puke.
After I got to take the bandages off, it hasn't been too bad to type or tie my shoes. I get the 8-9 stitches out on Friday.
