What a friggin' busy month. Maybe I should be reported to the Blogging Etiquette Police. After all, isn't "Thou must blog frequently." some kind of blog commandment?
First, it's self-promotion time...
You have three more days to vote for my other blog, This Mama Cooks! for Best Cooking/Recipe Blog.
Remember you can vote every 24 hours. So vote early, vote often, and use all your email accounts to vote many, many times for your favorite blogs.
And, pleeeez remember to verify your votes when you receive the verifying email from BoB. Several of my friends couldn't figure out why their votes weren't showing up. Uh, duh!
Among my usual SAHM duties of cooking, cleaning, and kicking chaos in the ass...
I've been reformatting my mom's club newsletter so the fonts don't go haywire when I turn it into a .pdf document. This way I can just email it to the printers instead of struggling to print out a decent copy on my failing inkjet. The redo (and the layout for the February issue) took up a major part of last weekend and several hours this week unfortunately. But now it looks MARVELOUS, darling.
And when it rains it pours. I have a story due for Volunteer Connections on the 17th that I've been working on all day. I should be able to make Monday's deadline. I had a story due to DotMoms on the 18th, but I asked our editor for a hiatus for January and February because I'm swamped.
You see, charter school activities have taken off. I'm studying up for my interview as a Founding Board Member of My Charter School with the Big Money Grant. We're going for a $180,000 grant to get our school started. This means I'm attending practice sessions and reading up on the Core Knowledge curriculum. I also have to print out, review and practically memorize the Colorado Charter Schools Best Practices Guidebook on the Colorado Department of Education website.
I'm nervous about the interview, which is on February 1st, but the practice sessions have helped tremendously. Still I have a huge amount of reading to do between now and then and I'm beginning to freak out.
Soooo, I would appreciate any advice. Have you gone through a grant interview? I'd love to hear from you.
New Year's resolutions are going well. I'm on the straight and narrow with Weight Watchers, which hasn't been a problem since I've barely had time to eat. And I've already gone down a belt notch, which is a very good thing because my pants were getting tight. Nothing worse than tight pants.
We received our new bedding! And we got a fabulous deal on Amazon.com to boot. Since I ordered more than $125 in kitchen and housewares, I got $25 off my order. (This deal lasts until the end of the month.) I also ordered TaxCut 2004 Complete Home & Business and TaxCut 2004 State and will get a $10 credit from Amazon in April. Cool. I just love a bargain.
I also love our new Wamsutta Palm Tree Queen Duvet Set from Amazon.com. The only negative was that I had to iron the duvet cover, pillow shams and bed skirts after I washed them. It took me an hour, but at least I got to watch Oprah at the same time. I can't even tell you when I got the ironing board out last. I never iron and rarely use the steamer now that I'm into "wash and wear mom duds" (i.e., t-shirts and jeans) all the time.
The Elegance 600-Thread-Count Sateen Woven Stripe Queen Sheet Set in sage also from Amazon, are decadent. Big Bad Dad isn't sure if the new Pacific Coast Feather Ashbourne White Goose Down Comforter from Costco (another excellend deal at $99) is too hot, though. Heck, I can always turn down the heat. I love the feel of down comforters. Yummy.
And yes, our new Dell computer is here. The printer arrived today, but I haven't had the chance to set it up since I know it'll take forever to transfer the files I need. Once I have a spare moment, I'll do it. Honest.
