Yesterday, my right bottom eyelid started twitching. It's so bad you can see it twitch, and it's extremely distracting. Reading is a bit difficult, and in a way it makes me feel very sleepy.
Here's what I found about eye twitches:
An eyelid twitch or tic is a minor spasm (blepharospasm) of the eyelids. The twitching may involve one or both eyelids. Doctors are not sure why these twitches or tics occur; however, it is widely believed that stress is a contributing factor. Insufficient lubrication of the eye by tears may also play a role. These minor spasms usually disappear on their own.
Am I stressed out? Could it be that I'm doing too much? Let's see...
● I write two 350-word pieces per month for DotMoms (three this month because we're doing Halloween stories)
● I write a monthly 350-word volunteer story for Volunteer Connection that appears in the Daily Times-Call.
● I produce the Tri-Town MOMS Club monthly newsletter. This includes attending a board meeting, interviewing two moms, writing and laying out the newsletter, going back and forth to the printer, laying out the classified ads, talking to our advertisers, and collating the newsletter -- about 10 hours per issue.
● I volunteer for Monkey Boy's preschool. This involves writing thank you notes, and whatever else they need.
● I'm on the founding board for the Carbon Valley Academy (charter school). This means I go to a great deal of meetings.
● I blog, which takes waaaaay too much time some days.
● I just took a new project on, writing and editing the twice monthly e-newsletter for MOTHERS. I promised to produce a mock e-newsletter by the end of the week.
● I'm the parent of two active children under five, have a household to run, and a husband who is gone most of the time.
Do you think I'm a little overextended here? Maybe so, but it makes the days go quickly and I'm building up my resume and getting some clips in the process.
Back to the twitching eyelid, I've read that not drinking diet sodas and cutting back on caffeine should help.
